SALTO and AT5

The Netherlands Commissariaat voor de Media [Media Commissariat] has licensed one broadcasting organisation in every municipality. In Amsterdam this is the Amsterdam Broadcasting Organisation. This means that, in addition to the TV channels A1 and A2, AT5 is also covered by the Amsterdam Broadcasting Organisation's licence. The AT5 programmes are made by AT5 BV, as ordered by the Amsterdam Broadcasting Organisation and in line with the prevailing programme rules and the basic programming policy principles. The editor in chief of AT5 is appointed on the recommendation of the board of the Amsterdam Broadcasting Organisation. The programmes are financed from advertising returns and a contribution from the Municipality of Amsterdam.
SALTO and FunX

The Amsterdam Broadcasting Organisation is the co-initiator of FunX, the public radio channel for 'urban youth' in the Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague and Utrecht areas. In line with the Netherlands Media Act, the Amsterdam Broadcasting Organisation, being the local broadcasting licensee, has final responsibility for the programmes of FunX Amsterdam. The Amsterdam Broadcasting Organisation participates in the G4 Radio foundation and the FunX BV production company and is represented on their board by Rien Fraanje.
